Top 5 Mens Weight Loss Tips

Mens weight loss: it’s a sensitive issue for many men. If you’re like many men, you’re struggling to keep your weight under control. It’s okay though, because once you learn these simple tips, you’ll find it much easier to lose weight than you thought.

Update: I’ve recently found The Diet Solution Program. You should really check it out. They’ve got loads of great info. Click Here to visit their site.

Mens Weight Loss Tip 1 – Keep Your Blood Sugar Stable

Mens Weight Loss BreakfastOne of the major causes of weight gain is fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Every time you eat too much fast-releasing food, your body releases too much sugar into your bloodstream. This causes your pancreas to secrete the hormone insulin, which takes the excess sugar out of your blood and stores it in cells as glycogen. If this temporary energy is not used up soon afterwards, it gets converted into fat.

There are two ways in which you can keep your blood sugar stable. One is to eat little and often. Another way is to eat food which is slow release. This includes oats (porridge), lentils and beans. Also, by combining protein with carbohydrate, the protein slows down the digestion further. So for example, have peanut butter (protein) on your toast (carbohydrate) rather than jam (fast release sugar – bad), or have chicken with your rice.

Mens Weight Loss Tip 2 – Avoid Junk Foods

Everyone knows that they should avoid junk foods. This is because they usually contain very little nutritional value, but contain a lot of sugar and saturate fat. So stay away from chocolate, cakes, candy, cookies, and fast food such as burgers. These foods taste nice and give you a quick buzz due to the sugar rush, but beyond that they will only do you harm.

Mens Weight Loss Tip 3 – Always Eat Breakfast

If you think that avoiding breakfast is a great way to lose weight, you need to reconsider because you really couldn’t be more wrong. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you skip breakfast, you will have zero energy for the day, your metabolism will be slow (so you won’t burn as much energy/calories), and your body will have a much harder time keeping your blood sugar under control. When you eat a good breakfast, you will be full of energy and enthusiasm for the day, and you will find it much easier to keep your appetite under control.

So tomorrow, jump out of bed, and eat some poached eggs on wholemeal toast or a big bowl of porridge with some raw nuts.

Mens Weight Loss Tip 4 – Make Exercise Fun

It’s no good trying to force yourself to keep doing something if it just feels like a boring effort. Don’t enjoy jogging? No problem. Don’t like the idea of spending hours sweating in the gym? Fine. If you do something you enjoy, you’ll be far more likely to stick with it. So, try to think of something physical that you really want to do. Maybe it’s a sport like football. Maybe you have always wanted to learn street dancing. Or maybe you would enjoy cycling? Whatever it is, just get out there and do it, and most importantly of all: enjoy it!

Mens Weight Loss Tip 5 – Make it a Lifestyle Choice

If you are approaching mens weight loss like it’s just another thing to get done, something else to be ticked off of your “To Do List”, then think again. You can’t just think, “Oh, I’ll just quickly lose weight and then I can get on with my life”. No! You need to fully embrace it as a permanent change of lifestyle. You need to decide, “from now on, I’m going to be a healthy, happy, energetic, active person, and I’m going to love it!”

If you can conquer these five basic rules, you will find mens weight loss easy.

Healthy Nutrition for Dieting & Weight Loss

Healthy NutritionHealthy nutrition – what’s it all about? If I was to say to you, “you need to eat more healthily”, would you know what that meant? Do you know what it really means to follow healthy nutrition? Here we are going to look at 5 ways in which you can dramatically improve your nutrition and start eating healthier.

Update: I’ve recently found The Diet Solution Program. You should really check it out. They’ve got loads of great info. Click Here to visit their site.

Healthy Nutrition Tips

Healthy Nutrition Tip 1 – Avoid Added Sugar & Refined Carbohydrates

Whenever you eat lots of sugar or refined carbohydrates, this type of food is digested quickly, causing a large amount of glucose to be quickly released into the bloodstream. The body reacts to this by telling the pancreas to release the hormone insulin, which works to remove the excess glucose from the blood and store it temporarily as glycogen. Not only does this cause your energy levels to fluctuate rapidly, but if this temporary energy store is not burned off, it then gets converted into fat for long-term energy storage. Also, refined carbohydrates and sugary processed foods have very little nutritional value. So, although these foods taste nice, they make you moody, hyperactive, lethargic, overweight and unhealthy.

Instead, eat complex carbohydrates such as wholemeal bread, brown pasta, and porridge oats. These types of healthy carbohydrates contain more nutrients, and they also digest more slowly, giving you sustained energy levels.

Healthy Nutrition Tip 2 – Eat Good Quality Protein

We all need protein as part of our diets. However, protein also has an additional benefit. When eaten with complex carbohydrates, the protein slows down the digestion further, thereby giving you stable blood sugar levels and sustained energy throughout the day.

Good sources of protein include nuts, seeds, beans, lentils, fish, and good quality meats.

Healthy Nutrition Tip 3 – Eat Plenty of Fresh Fruit & Vegetables

Everybody knows that fresh fruit and vegetables are good for them. However, many people don’t eat enough of them. Fruit and vegetables are great for your health because they contain lots of essential vitamins and minerals, lots of water to keep you hydrated, and also fibre which helps to keep your digestive system healthy.

Healthy Nutrition Tip 4 – Drink Plenty of Water

Healthy nutrition isn’t just about food, it’s also about water. Our bodies are largely made of water (about 60 percent). We need water to live. Without a regular supply of water the body soon dies. However, there is a big difference between being alive and being healthy, and many people do not drink a healthy amount of water.

So, how much water should you drink per day? Well, the standard advice for the average person is to drink at least 2 litres of water per day, which is about 8 glasses.

Healthy Nutrition Tip 5 – Smoothies: Supercharge Your Health!

If you do nothing else in terms of healthy nutrition, smoothies are a great way to get loads of nutritional goodness into your body quickly. However, I’m not just talking ordinary smoothies here. I’m referring to a specific type of smoothie. I’m certainly not talking about the kind of smoothies you buy in shops. No, I mean freshly made smoothies, containing a certain balance of ingredients.

To do this you will need both a juicer and a blender. This is because we will be juicing certain fruits and vegetables, and then putting them in the blender with some additional ingredients in order to make a nice thick smoothie which tastes great but also contains loads of great nutrients plus fibre and protein. The amounts are not precise as this is not an exact science, and you will have to experiment yourself to find what works best for you.

Put the following in your juicer (NOT blender):

  • Several apples
  • 1 or 2 carrots
  • A few handfuls of raw spinach
  • 1 or 2 sticks of celery
  • A few chunks of broccoli
  • A few pears

Then put the resulting liquid into a blender and blend with the following:

  • Some natural yoghurt
  • Half an avocado (or a whole one if you made a lot of juice)
  • 1 or 2 handfuls of raw seeds (e.g. pumpkin and sunflower)
  • A load of blueberries

What this does is it blends the fruit and vegetable juice with some protein, fibre, and good fat. This slows down the digestion of the juice, keeping your blood sugar level more stable and making you feel fuller for longer. If you end up with more than you can drink in one go, pour the rest into some bottles, squeeze in a bit of fresh lemon juice, and refrigerate; but make sure you drink it before the end of the day. Don’t keep it for days on end.

Male Health Myths: the Top 10 Men’s Health Facts Most People Get Wrong

Male Health Myths

Male health: it is such an important issue these days, with many men concerned about their health, and some men just not caring about their health at all. With so much information about male health out there, there are many myths about male health, and in this article we aim to dispel a few of those male health myths.

Hey, have you seen The Muscle Maximizer? If you’re struggling to build muscle you really need to watch their video. Click Here to take a quick look.

Male Health Myth 10 – Eating Fewer Calories Will Cause You to Burn Fat

If you think that simply reducing the number of calories you eat will enable you to permanently get rid of your excess fat, you’re sadly mistaken. Instead, you need to look at the TYPE of foods you eat. For example, you could reduce your calories, but have all those calories from chocolate. That means you’ll have no energy, a slow metabolism, and you will have uncontrollable food cravings. Not only that, you will tend to lose muscle rather than fat. Instead, eat plenty of healthy meals and snacks that make you feel full for a long time and provide lots of good nutrition. This will keep your energy levels and metabolism up, and stop you craving junk food.

Male Health Myth 9 – Knuckle Cracking & Arthritis

The cracking sound that you hear is usually just the release of gas bubbles or the ligaments or tendons moving over the bones. No evidence has been found which suggests that the habit of cracking your knuckles will cause arthritis later in life. However, it probably will annoy other people, so stop doing it anyway.

Male Health Myth 8 – Chocolate & Acne

Chocolate itself is not a cause of acne. However, having a diet which contains too much sugar and processed foods can possibly lead to acne, but it is not chocolate itself which is specifically to blame. However, chocolate can cause weight gain, so it is best to limit your consumption of it anyway.

Male Health Myth 7 – Saturated Fat

A lot of men think that they should avoid all saturated fat. While high levels of saturated fat are bad for you, a small amount is actually good for you, and can even help keep your testosterone levels healthy. As long as you don’t consume more than 15% of your daily fat intake as saturated fat then you’re alright.

Male Health Myth 6 – Protein & Muscle Mass

Protein is required for muscle growth, this is true. However, the body can only build a certain amount of muscle per day, regardless of protein consumption. So eating crazy amounts of protein will not automatically give you huge muscles. Your daily protein requirement is about 1 gram for every pound of lean body mass. Once you have reached that amount, you won’t build more muscle simply by eating more protein.

Male Health Myth 5 – Age & Muscle Mass

You don’t necessarily need to lose your muscle mass as you get older. As long as you keep up a regular strength training plan, stay healthy, and eat healthily, there is no reason why you cannot keep your muscle mass as you get older.

Male Health Myth 4 – Active People Can Eat Anything

If you think that just because you train hard you can eat whatever you want because you’ll just burn it off, think again. With the amount of high-calorie junk food out there, it doesn’t take long to eat all the calories you just burned. Also, by approaching your training in this way while eating lots of junk food, you are likely to over-train to compensate. This can cause high cortisol levels, and this in turn can cause an increase in abdominal fat.

Male Health Myth 3 – Catching Up On Sleep at Weekends

Many men make a habit of not getting enough sleep during the working week, and then catching up by sleeping longer at weekends. This is a bad way to approach your sleeping habits. Firstly, the extra sleep at weekends may still not be quite enough to get rid of your “sleep debt”. Secondly, irregular sleeping hours like this will upset your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle. Instead, make it a habit to get 7-8 hours sleep every night of the week.

Male Health Myth 2 – Salt

While it is true that too much salt is bad for us, we do need some salt. Salt is actually required for several functions in the body. If you think you have a lot of salt in your diet, make sure you also get enough potassium, to prevent your body’s sodium-potassium balance getting disrupted. While you should definitely avoid high salt processed foods, there is no need to completely cut salt from your diet.

Male Health Myth 1 – Egg Yolks

Many men think that eggs are bad because they contain too much cholesterol, but this actually isn’t true. Some men eat just the egg whites, but by doing this you avoid all the good nutrition that is in the yolk. As long as you don’t currently have high cholesterol, eating 1 or 2 eggs per day is absolutely fine.

Mens Health Diet – Lose Weight, Burn Fat, Build Muscle, Get Fit & Slim

Mens Health DietMens Health Diet is a diet book written by Stephen Perrine and is published by the Men’s Health magazine. Its subtitle is: “27 Days to Sculpted Abs, Maximum Muscle & Superhuman Sex!” It is based around a set of health rules that Perrine has created, which aim to help men lose weight in a healthy, long-term way.

Update: I’ve recently found The Diet Solution Program. You should really check it out. They’ve got loads of great info. Click Here to visit their site.

Mens Health Diet Rule 1: Eat Protein with Every Meal & Snack

Your body needs protein in order to build muscle. Each time you eat more than 10 grams of protein, your body goes into protein synthesis mode. If you eat 30 grams or more, this process can last as long as 3 hours. Also, protein helps keep your blood sugar level stable, which keeps your appetite under control and your energy levels up.

Mens Health Diet Rule 2: Never Skip Breakfast

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. If you skip breakfast, you are giving yourself a bad start to the day, and setting yourself up for failure when it comes to keeping your appetite and food choices under control later on in the day. By eating a good healthy breakfast, you kick start your metabolism and give yourself energy for the day ahead.

Mens Health Diet Rule 3: Eat Before and After Exercise

Think of your body as a machine. If it’s going to be using a lot of energy, it needs a lot of fuel. When you eat before and after exercise, you will have more energy, your workout will be more effective, you will build more muscle, and burn more fat. Sounds great doesn’t it? Well it is! So make sure you eat before and after, and you will definitely see these benefits from your workouts.

Mens Health Diet Rule 4: Eat As Many Natural Foods As You Can

If it grows on a tree, or a bush, or out of the ground, eat it. You should include fruits and vegetables in as many of your snacks and meals during the day as you possibly can. The goal here is to provide your body with as many nutritious foods as you can, and natural foods are the most nutritious.

Mens Health Diet Rule 5: Eat More Greens

Salads are good for you, everyone knows that. Salads containing dark green vegetables are the best. So start buying more spinach, rocket, watercress, kale, lettuce and broccoli. Green vegetables are rich in B-vitamins, and also Chlorophyll which has many health benefits, such as helping repair tissue, reducing bad breath, stimulating red blood cells to increase oxygen supply, and much more.

Mens Health Diet Rule 6: Avoid Sugary Drinks

Sugary drinks are terrible for your health. They usually provide virtually no nutritional benefit, and the sugar will upset your energy levels and make you fat. It’s not just cola you need to avoid, but also sweetened iced tea, fruit drinks, and also energy drinks. Always check the label to see if it has sugar in it. If it does, don’t drink it.

Mens Health Diet Rule 7: Follow the Rules 80 Percent of the Time

Trying to be too strict in your nutritional regime could make you go a bit crazy. Go a bit easy on yourself, and allow yourself to break the rules once in every five times. If you approach it is in this way, you will be very healthy but you won’t go insane.

Health for Men Tip 1 – Eat Healthy FoodHealth for Men

Most men know that they should eat healthily and avoid junk food, but many simply fail to put it into practice. You need to make a long-term lifestyle change rather than bounce from one fad diet to another.

Instead, eat plenty of wholegrain complex carbohydrates such as wholemeal bread, brown pasta, and porridge oats. Eat good quality proteins such as beans, lentils, eggs, nuts, seeds, and fish. Eat lots of raw green leafy vegetables such as spinach, watercress, rocket, and lettuce. Also eat plenty of fresh fruit, such as apples, berries, cherries, grapefruits, kiwi fruits, and pears.

Health for Men Tip 2 – Exercise

If the thought of exercise really turns you off, try to find something that you will enjoy. For example, try taking up a sport such as football, basketball, baseball, or even golf. Health for men is about more than just eating healthily. Although a balanced healthy diet will provide many of the essential nutrients your body needs, you can still be lacking certain nutrients. Therefore, it is wise to include a daily multivitamin to ensure you get enough of all the vital vitamins and minerals your body needs for optimum performance. Health for Men Tip 4 – Keep Your Weight Under Control

Obesity is a big sign of bad health for men. Many health problems are associated with being overweight. Therefore, if you are able to keep your weight to a healthy level, you will have a much easier time keeping potential health problems at bay. That being said, it actually often works the other way around. What I mean is, if you put all the other health tips into practice, such as eating healthily and taking regular exercise, then you will tend to lose weight anyway. So rather, keep an eye on your weight as an indicator of how successful you are at staying healthy. Think of it as an alarm system. If your weight shoots up, then take it as a sign that you need to change something in your lifestyle, whether that means no longer buying donuts or no longer driving your car to the grocery store. Health for Men Tip 5 – Say No to Smoking, Drugs and Binge Drinking

This one is obvious to most people, but again, many of us fail to take notice of the damage that smoking, alcohol and drugs can do to our health. However, this is a complex issue, because often people will turn to alcohol and drugs to make themselves feel better, and this is often because of underlying physical or mental issues which they have not addressed. So again, if you are able to get yourself healthy and fit in other ways, you will find it much easier to give up these unhealthy substances.

Health for Men Tip 6 – If in Doubt, Visit Your Doctor

If you are trying to improve your health, but you are just not getting anywhere, it is possible that you have a more serious health problem that needs expert attention. Or perhaps you are just finding it hard and you need some extra support. Either way, if you are in doubt about your health, visit your doctor.

Since the first issue of Mens Fitness was published in 1988 in the USA, it has risen to the top as one of the fastest growing health and fitness magazines. As well as the United States, it is now published in the United Kingdom, Australia, and Russia. However, since 2009 the British version has been published by a different company – Dennis Publishing. Between 1997 and 2003 its circulation was doubled, and its popularity is still very much on the increase.

Mens Fitness Controversy

In 2007, Andy Roddick made a complaint when he noticed that they had digitally altered by physique for his cover photo. He vented his feeling on the subject via his blog, saying: “If you can manage to stop laughing at the cover long enough, check out the article inside…little did I know I have 22-inch guns and a disappearing birthmark on my right arm.” The magazine stated that Roddick’s arms had not been replaced, just enhanced.

Mens Fitness is no stranger to courting controversy. In October 2001 the magazine was the subject of negative publicity on the internet after it published an article titled: “NY Comic Con: Flabby Versions of Your Favorite Superheroes!” The article contained embarrassing photos of costume-wearing New York Comic Con attendees, and featured some nasty comments next to them, mocking their physical appearance and weight.

At the time of the controversy, cosplay and comic book websites across the internet commented on the subject. One such website, iFanboy.com, criticised the Mens Fitness article, stating that it was poorly written. They also criticised the response to the controversy given by Mens Fitness magazine and the author of the piece, Jordan Burchette, saying that they defended the article by saying it was meant to be comedy.

As a result of the many complaints about the offending article, it was removed on October 24th, 2011. However, the magazine Maxim published their own similar article on the subject.

Penis Health – 10 Interesting Facts

Penis HealthPenis health: what does it mean to you? Most men are obsessed with their penises, but how many of us really know much about the health of our little chaps? Here are 10 little facts you probably didn’t know about your best friend, the one-eyed trouser snake. Take note, and take care…

Hey, have you seen the Penis Enlargement Guide? If you have any worries about the size of your penis, you might find it really helpful. Click Here to take a quick look.

Penis Health Fact 1 – Prostate

Enlargement of the prostate gland can lead to premature ejaculation and erectile dysfunction. If you are having trouble in either of these areas, it could be a good idea to get your doctor to check your prostate.

Penis Health Fact 2 – Smoking

Smoking is bad for your penis, and doing so can cause your penis to be up to a centimetre shorter. Smoking causes the blood vessels to calcify, thereby reducing blood flow to the penis.

Penis Health Fact 3 – Orgasm

On average, a male orgasm lasts about 6 seconds. Compare this with women, who orgasm for an average of 23 seconds. If women care so much about equality, they should really be allowing us four orgasms for every one that they have.

Penis Health Fact 4 – Flaccid Size

If you are concerned about the size of your penis when flaccid, you’re probably worrying unnecessarily. There are actually two types of penises. There are those that are much smaller when flaccid and then grow to as much as double their size once erect, and then there are penises which are only slightly smaller when flaccid.

Penis Health Fact 5 – Foreskin

If you have been circumcised and regret having it done, all is not lost. Doctors are now able to reconstruct the foreskin by pulling the remaining skin toward the tip and taping it in place. However, it can take several years before a full foreskin is developed in this way.

Penis Health Fact 6 – Erection Size

From a fertility point of view, the size of your erect penis does indeed matter. Studies have shown that longer erect penises tend to push the semen further into the woman’s vagina.

Penis Health Fact 7 – Healthy Sperm

It is possible that the sperm of better-looking men tends to be stronger. Researchers in Spain have found that when women choose men that they find the most attractive these also tend to be the men who have the strongest sperm.

Penis Health Fact 8 – It’s a No Brainer

A brain is not needed in order for ejaculation to take place. The signal that causes ejaculation actually comes directly from the spinal cord. However, it can take some brain usage to find a potential recipient.

Penis Health Fact 9 – Penile Rupture

What is the number 1 cause of a ruptured penis? The answer is: masturbating too vigorously. Oh well, life is full of risks though…

Penis Health Fact 10 – Nocturnal Erections

The average man gets an erection between three and five times during the night. Each one lasts on average 25-35 minutes. When a man wakes up with an erection, this is actually the last of the night-time erections.
